Selangor, 17 December 2015 – In line with its ongoing efforts to encourage consumers to be more fuel-efficient, Shell Malaysia has launched Shell FuelSave Diesel Euro 5, which is designed to last longer per tank.
The launch of Shell FuelSave Diesel Euro 5 builds on Shell’s previous initiatives such as the Shell FuelSave Challenge and Shell FuelSave College Competition, which aims to build awareness for fuel-saving. More than that, the new fuel also aims to provide consumers who want high quality, fuel-efficient diesel that is compatible with modern diesel engines that require low sulphur fuel.

The introduction of Shell FuelSave Diesel Euro 5 today is an affirmation of our commitment to help consumers make smarter choices on the road. Shell FuelSave Diesel Euro 5 is now available at selected sites throughout Peninsular Malaysia, in accordance with the company’s plan to ensure that high quality diesel is available for its customers. Shell aims to invest into its expansive network to quickly extend availability at more locations.
In its efforts to encourage drivers to be more fuel efficient on the road, Shell Malaysia is also partnering with premium automaker BMW Group Malaysia in creating awareness on the importance of fuel efficiency and emissions responsibility on the road.
“We at BMW Group Malaysia would like to congratulate Shell Malaysia on the introduction of the new Shell FuelSave Diesel Euro 5, which is an important step forward for diesel drivers in Malaysia to have access to the newest specification of diesel fuel at the stations for better performance and efficiency of their vehicles. The availability of Euro 5 specification diesel will also be instrumental in driving the introduction of the latest modern and more fuel efficient diesel vehicles in the country,” said Sashi Ambi, Head of Corporate Communications, BMW Group Malaysia, who was present at the launch ceremony.
Ambi added that BMW Group Malaysia have been driving for the introduction of Euro 5 specified fuel since 2009 when the premium automaker introduced its fleet of BMW Advanced Diesel vehicles as part of the BMW EfficientDynamics program. He said, “BMW EfficientDynamics is our innovation strategy for the introduction of premium vehicles which not only truly embodies the promise of Sheer Driving Pleasure but to also drive the introduction of industry leading ideas, practises and technologies that are relevant and responsible.”
Shell FuelSave Diesel Euro 5 features Active Efficiency Ingredients, which is designed to improve engine efficiency from the very first tank, helping vehicles use fuel less quickly. It also has a special detergent designed to maintain engine condition by helping prevent the build-up of injector deposits.
The fuel has an ultra-low sulphur content of only 10 parts per million (ppm) of sulphur compared with 500 ppm of sulphur in Shell FuelSave Diesel Euro2M. When used with compatible Euro 5 engines, Shell FuelSave Diesel Euro 5 enables the advanced engine and emission control systems to perform optimally, just as they were designed to, while reducing emissions.
Shell Malaysia plans to roll out the product at selected stations in the next few months. Presently, the product is available in five stations, which are situated at the following locations:
- Koperasi Pekerja-Pekerja Shell Malaysia, NKVE-Damansara Highway, Selangor
- R&Z Aktiviti Enterprise, Tapah Rest Stop, Perak
- Mentari Ria Resources, Tanjung Malim Layby, Perak
- RA Talang, Bandar Ayer Keroh, Melaka
- Luruhmas Sdn Bhd, Pasir Gudang Highway 2, Johor
