In the spirit of Ramadan and giving, Courts Malaysia and its partner, 1 Malaysia for Youth (iM4U) recently brought joy and cheer to the children of Rumah Tunas Harapan Payung Seri Sejahtera in Kuala Pilah, Seremban as part of their ongoing commitment to give back to the community.
Part of Rumah Amal Courts, a year-long charity programme launched earlier this year in March, the visit was a joint effort between 10 Courts staff and 12 iM4U volunteers who came together to refurbish the Home and give it a cheery makeover. Courts also contributed basic household necessities such as bedding and electrical products worth RM36,000. Adding more fun and laughter to the afternoon was Courts’ brand ambassador, Harith Iskander and iM4U radio announcers, Fiza and TV. The children enjoyed Harith’s company as he delighted them with Duit Raya and assisted the volunteers in setting up news beds for the kids.
“As the leading electrical, IT and furniture retailer in the country, Courts remains dedicated to helping the community, and inculcating a spirit of giving and togetherness amongst our staff. With the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations just around the corner, we hope that our visit to the Home was able to bring festive cheer to the children and fond memories that stay with them forever. It was a pleasure to be able to help make their homes more comfortable, as well as a privilege to spend the day with them,” said Ms Low Bee Yin, Marketing Director of Courts Malaysia.
En. Efny Johan, Director of iM4U Brand Management Group also remarked: “Since the launch of Rumah Amal Courts earlier this year, we have seen first-hand how the programme has positively impacted the beneficiaries and lessened their physical and emotional burdens. We are pleased to once again be able to collaborate with Courts to now bring joy to Rumah Tunas Harapan, and hope that our joint contributions will greatly benefit the children.”
Run by the social welfare department, Rumah Tunas Harapan is a home started for underprivileged children to provide them the care they deserve, so that they can lead better lives. Emelia Kamarulzaman, the Social Welfare Officer of Rumah Tunas Harapan expressed her gratitude for the contributions from Courts and iM4U.
“On behalf of the children at the Home, we would like to thank Courts Malaysia and iM4U for their efforts in making a difference to the lives of the children at the home. We are very appreciative for the new furnishings and donations, but nothing is better than seeing the children’s excitement at being able to spend time with Harith Iskander and the teams who were here today to help us set up the place for the Hari Raya celebrations,” she said.
Harith Iskander said: “Essentially, all we want at the end of the day is to delight the kids’ lives and give them more reasons to smile. The children really enjoyed our company, it is heart-warming to see the happiness on their faces when we helped them assemble their brand new beds. I hope that our visit, together with the contributions from Courts and iM4U, will go a long way in making a difference in their lives.”
Courts launched Rumah Amal Courts in March 2015, in conjunction with the retailer’s 28th anniversary in Malaysia, partnering with iM4U – a non-profit organisation that helps to nurture and cultivate volunteerism amongst Malaysian youth through nation-building activities that can benefit communities and social groups. The year-long community outreach programme aims to provide basic household necessities to 28 homes in need; providing basic necessities and electrical items worth RM200,000 to them.
Since its launch, Courts and iM4U have presented a total of RM 130,000 worth of basic household necessities to over 17 homes across the country, and aims to reach out to another 11 homes by the end of this year.
