24th KL International Earth Day Run

Theme: RACE FOR SUSTAINABILITY

Sunday, 24th April 2016

6.00 a.m. – 11.00 a.m.

 Venue: Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur

The 4th edition of the Kuala Lumpur International Earth Day Run will be held on Sunday, 24th April 2016 at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur.  It is being held to observe the Earth Day.

Organized by Asia World Events, the event is sponsored by Brickfields Asia College (BAC), Malaysian Reinsurance Berhad, Takaful Ikhlas Berhad and Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd.

The run is also supported by Persatuan Insurance Hayat Malaysia/Life Insurance Association of Malaysia and KL International Jazz & Arts Festival. The technical supporter for the event is Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur Athletic Association (FTAAA) and the online partner is Hooha Asia.1

  1. ABOUT THE EARTH DAY

Celebrated annually on 22nd April, Earth Day is held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year. The global theme for 2016 is Trees for the Earth.  This campaign is to help combat climate change. By planting more trees, cities around the world will have a higher level of oxygen in the air, thus helping us to breathe clean air. Not only does trees give us clean air, it helps build communities achieve long-term economic and environmental sustainability and provide food, energy and income.

  1. ABOUT THE 4TH KL INTERNATIONAL EARTH DAY RUN 2016

The Run is open for participation to all who are aged 13 years and above under the following categories:

  • Men Senior (18-39 years)
  • Women Senior (18-39 years)
  • Men Junior (13-17 years)
  • Women Junior (13-17 years)
  • Men Veteran (40 years & above)
  • Women Veteran (40 years & above)
  • Corporate/Team (25 years & above)

 

  1. PRIZES, MEDALS, PLANTS & GOODIE BAGS
  • Prizes in the form of cash money, medals and hampers will be presented to the first 5 runners of each category.
  • Medals will also be given to the first 100 finishers of each category.
  • The first 2,000 participants to register will be given a free plant to take home and plant at their houses courtesy of, Malaysian Reinsurance Berhad and Takaful Ikhlas Berhad.
  • All registered runners are entitled to a Goodie Bag.

Online registration is available at www.hooha.asia. Walk-in registration is available at FTAAA. The registration closes on 17th April 2016 and further details about the Run including rules & regulations can be obtained at www.asiaworldevents.com/earthday/ or www.hooha.asia.
