Kickboxing icon Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan will not put his foot to rest until he has one more prestigious World Title in his collection – the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix Championship belt.

Besides that dream of lifting the prestigious strap, the Armenian-Italian is fixated on solidifying his status as the greatest kickboxer on the planet.

“Winning this World Title would be extremely important because it would further cement the fact that I am the best in the world. It’s as simple as that,” the 33-year-old striker said.

“This is the most important belt in the world right now. I want to win that belt at all costs.”

Petrosyan is one of seven kickboxing World Champions set to grace the World Grand Prix at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

“The Doctor” kicks off his campaign against Thailand’s Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy in a quarterfinal bout at ONE: ENTER THE DRAGON in Singapore on Friday, 17 May.

“I know Petchmorakot, and I’ve seen his recent ONE Championship fights,” Petrosyan said.

“He is a strong, tough, and quality opponent. We will get to find out if he has what it takes starting on 17 May.”

Petrosyan’s display in his two ONE appearances so far have been downright flawless.

In April 2018, the kickboxing ace unpacked his unique mix of strikes to record a dominant unanimous decision victory over “Smokin’” Jo Nattawut.

The Milan native returned in November with another solid performance against Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy.

“I always try and change my style, so as not to give my opponents any hints,” he explained.

“Still, my latest fights ushered in a more aggressive Giorgio, and this, as always, depends on the opponent I’m facing.”

Already regarded as one of the world’s best by fans and critics – and of course, Malaysia’s Mohammed Bin Mahmoud and Saiful Merican – Petrosyan’s drive to top his already unmatchable style will only leave fellow athletes with a more difficult chance of winning.

Despite his sky-high confidence, the two-time K-1 World Max Champion has remained as humble as ever.

“It will be a fantastic fight, a technical fight, and may the best man win. Petchmorakot, I know who you are. Get ready to rumble, because I will be when the day comes,” Petrosyan said.

“I’m training as hard as I can, and we’ll see each other in the ring on fight day, and that’s where I let my strikes do all the talking.”
