The 3V3 badminton tournament “Let’s MOVEON GLY 3V3 Badminton Showdown” was co-organised by Malaysia’s personalised functional food technology brand “Wellous” and sports resource website “WellSport”, with the goal of focusing on joint health and promoting parent-child communication has officially kicked off on April 15, 2023 (Saturday) at Vanity Atrium in Sunway Velocity Mall.

Olympic silver medalist – Goh Liu Ying has been actively involved in the badminton community in a variety of roles and capacities after her retirement from competitive badminton. Additionally, “Let’s MOVEON GLY 3V3 Badminton Showdown” is also the second time for Goh Liu Ying to hold a 3V3 badminton tournament.

It is worth mentioning that this is not only a rare sporting event held in shopping malls, but also a badminton tournament that combines singles, doubles and 3V3 forms. Although it brings the event closer to the public, moving the badminton tournament into the malls is not without difficulties. Goh Liu Ying pointed out that the uncontrollable lighting and wind direction in the mall make the game more challenging and challenge players’ ability to maintain concentration.

However, 3V3 has not yet appeared on the stage of international professional tournaments after all. When asked about her motivation, she stated, “There are already a lot of regular, professional badminton tournaments, so I want to go in a different direction. It is quite demanding to play, but we are actually very happy and entertaining when we train, so I want to introduce other ways of playing to more badminton lovers.”

The tournament also invited current national badminton players to support the tournament, including men’s singles player Ng Tze Yong, women’s singles player Goh Jin Wei and mixed doubles player Shevon Jemie Lai. The three of them then brought an exhibition match with the champion team to heat up the atmosphere.

Goh Liu Ying remained interested in the dynamics of the badminton sport even after retirement and was optimistic about Tang Jie & Ee Wei attempt to qualify for the Olympic

Goh Liu Ying, on the other hand, stated in a media interview at the event that, in addition to seeing the Malaysian mixed doubles team’s level gradually improve, she is also optimistic that the young mixed doubles team – Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei will have the opportunity to compete for the qualification to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.

“Currently, three or four mixed doubles teams in China are cooperating to qualify for the Olympic Games and foster healthy competition throughout the Paris Olympic points cycle. This is a positive development, and perhaps everyone will do better as a result.”

Speaking about the upcoming major competitions, including the Cambodia 2023 Southeast Asian Games, Goh Liu Ying believes that it will not be easy for the Malaysian badminton team to achieve the desired results. “Because we will face strong opponents, like Indonesia, but still hope that they will have the best performance.”

In addition, Goh Liu Ying claimed that several professional athletes have been involved in the “Road to Gold” initiative, which was initiated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to win Malaysia’s first Olympic gold medal.

“I believe they will give it their all, whether it’s the national team or the free agents, as long as they have the chance to compete in the Olympics.”

As a former representative of the national team and used to be a free agent, she emphasised that financial help is a link that cannot be ignored.

“Free agents must participate in a number of competitions to collect points in order to qualify for the Olympics, thus we definitely need funding. If there are no concerns, then they can give it their best on the court and perform better.”

Goh Liu Ying has reminded the public to pay attention to joint health and to enjoy parent-child time without worry

Goh Liu Ying as the initiator of GLY 3V3 badminton tournament and also the joint health care ambassador of MOVEON, stated that she would like to take this opportunity to remind the public to pay attention to joint health and exercise more in order to enjoy better quality parent-child time with heart and strength.

Nowadays, people are becoming conscious of the importance of exercise and health, especially joint health. Many people suffer from joint pain, which interferes with their everyday lives. Among them, lack of exercise is one of the causes of joint pain. Therefore, the organisers hope to encourage everyone to pay attention to joint health through the theme of “Let’s MOVEON.”

MOVEON – joint restoring beverage is Malaysia’s first bone and joint formula with 3 international patents, which effectively helps repair bone and joint damage, promote cartilage tissue regeneration and strengthen bone and joint. Besides, MOVEON emphasises repair and regenerative strengthening, opposes short-term pain relief , and advocates long-term bone strengthening because only health can take you further. In keeping with today’s convenient lifestyle, MOVEON is designed as ready to drink beverages with just one sachet every day on an empty stomach before meals.
