Kuala Lumpur, 16 March 2018 – One of the timeless classics since the 1980’s, the New Balance 574, has been crafted over time.  Unaffected by trends, the 574 represents the classic running silhouette that is still a classic design till today. The New Balance 574 features a timeless, utilitarian design whose legacy spans generations, revitalized by the independent spirit within each era.

In conjunction with marking 30 years since the introduction of the classic favourite New Balance 574 silhouette, New Balance is introducing the Legacy of Grey collection, launching this March across all JD stores nationwide. The men’s Legacy of Grey pack takes inspiration from two of the most legendary grey styles from the New Balance 99X and 1000 series – the original 990 and the 1300JP.

In 1982, the New Balance 990 changed the footwear industry by introducing the first $100 running silhouette. The style, offered in grey suede, was a move away from the bright neons and pops of colour that dominated the running industry during that era. It changed the industry impression of grey suede and became a colour synonymous with New Balance. The classic New Balance 574 trainers has been a highly sought-after choice amongst fans for the longest time, and one of the most  recognised New Balance footwear collectors is  Kevin  Downie, based in the UK. As part of his ever-growing collection, he has over 100 pairs of New Balance 574 trainers.

He has maintained a lifelong liking for the New Balance 574 as it has always retained its classic yet minimalist style since its inception 30 years ago. With a separate room filled with a variety of various colourways and limited edition picks of New Balance 574s, the Classic Grey pairs remain as his to-go pair which can be worn with any outfit, and for any occasion. The 1300JP is one of the most coveted New Balance styles and is re-introduced every 5 years. The style was introduced in 1985 as a technical running shoe and praised by runners for its superior cushioning, unique grey color and authentic silhouette. The New Balance 574 will be launched on 15 March 2018 in the 990 and 1300JP grey colourways, retailing for RM339, respectively.

As part of New Balance’s Grey Day celebration, New Balance has collaborated with two independent Malaysian artists, Vincent Paul Yong, a fashion photographer and Annie (most well-known as Con Ele), a designer and tattoo artist to create their very own rendition of the classic ‘N’ symbol that will be displayed in-store at JD Pavilion for one day only on the 15 March 2018.

For a limited time only from 15 – 18 March 2018, footwear aficionados can enjoy RM50 off any New Balance 574 footwear items exclusively at JD.  Time to get your hands on your favourite pairs of New Balance trainers at your nearest JD outlets including the flagship store located at JD Pavilion Elite, JD Sunway Pyramid, JD Sunway Velocity, JD KOT Mid Valley, JD AEON Tebrau City, JD KOT IOI City Mall, JD KOT Sunway Carnival and JD Mahkota Parade.
