(SEMASA) Pop by Jaya One exhibits brand new retail concept at introductory pop-up store

Pop by Jaya One (Pop) introduced a new retail concept at its introductory pop-up exhibit at Palm Square, Jaya One, ahead of its 1 Nov opening at Malaysia’s first enrichment mall The School.


Pop by Jaya One is a creative retail cluster occupying 16,800 sq ft space at The School. Pop will feature creative independent micro-retailers in fashion, beauty, services and lifestyle.

Much like a retail hotel, Pop by Jaya One will enable vendors to create their dream store for a day, a week, a month or even a year. Vendors can rent lots 70 square feet to 1000 square feet, priced from RM2,100 onwards and covers various facilities.

“Markets has witnessed a growing community of individuals who’ve turned their weekend hobbies into viable businesses. Pop aims to provide a permanent platform for these businesses,” explains Charles Wong, Executive Director of Tetap Tiara Sdn Bhd on how Jaya One’s quarterly bazaar has inspired the creation of Pop.

Pop by Jaya One offers a refreshing shopping experience and a veritable visual feast. Think of Dover Street Market in London or closer to home, Brightspot Market in Jakarta. An ever-revolving retail space, Pop encourages their vendors to tell their brand story. They are free to choose their space in Pop and free to design their space that best represents their brand.


Pop’s introductory exhibit aims to demonstrate the veritable retail feast it will offer upon opening. It is open to the public. Details are as follows:

The exhibit is featuring four original and creative independent retailers, known for their rounds in bazaars and markets around the city:

  • Creole – Creole is the ultimate one-stop shop for off-beat accessories that are point on- trend.
  • oKinkyBlueFairy – KinkyBlueFairy curates a quirky selection of accessories and apparel both new and vintage, as collected by Joyce Wong during her travel adventures.
  • Medium Rare – Medium Rare Store carters to the new urban male – fun, practical, discerning and everything in between.
  • Tongue in Chic x White Rabbit KL – Tongue in Chic turned five this year, and to celebrate, the fashion and beauty media portal designed two dotted line motifs on White Rabbit men’s T-shirts.

As an organiser for the quarterly Markets @ Jaya One, we were intrigued by the ingenuity and originality displayed by participating vendors. Though they lacked a traditional physical store, these vendors thrived by putting their businesses online and by participating in flea markets and bazaars that dotted the city.


Inspired by their drive, we imagined a space that was somehow in-between. More permanent than a market, but flexible enough to accommodate rental periods of different lengths. A platform to showcase their goods to a wider audience. A space that supports their creative individuality and business needs.


Our lightbulb moment was Pop @ Jaya One.





Pop @ Jaya One encourages all its vendors and retailers to flex their creative muscle. As a space, Pop @ Jaya One is a canvas waiting to be enriched by the unique personalities of its respective retailers. Whether it’s fashion, beauty, services or lifestyle, Pop @ Jaya One will enable vendors of all types to create their dream store for a week, a month or even a year.


We aim to offer customers a refreshing shopping experience and a veritable visual feast at the same time. This will be retail therapy that plays on all your senses. Think of Dover Street Market in London or closer to home, Brightspot Market in Jakarta.





Pop @ Jaya One will have spaces of various sizes for rent, ranging from 80 sq ft to 1,000 sq ft, to cater to the unique needs of our retailers. Rental fees start from RM 800 a week.
