And fittingly, that feud reignites at ONE: CENTURY, the single biggest World Championship martial arts event in history.
The five-round bout which serves as the co-main event of ONE CENTURY PART II in Tokyo, Japan pits two of the best bantamweights in the planet against each other, and Belingon knows there is only one way to settle the hotly-anticipated debate once and for all.
“It is hard to tell how it will end, but I’m looking for a knockout so that all talks will be settled,” the 31-year-old shared.
“It’s hard to leave this to the judges because there would be doubts there. I have to get that knockout win.”
The former ONE Bantamweight World Champion has thoroughly prepped himself up for this bout but did not want to reveal his possible winning formula on Sunday, 13 October.
However, he believes Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao’s advice can lead him to a 21st career win.
“For our game plan, I’m leaving it to coach Mark Sangiao so I can effectively counter his striking and takedowns,” Belingon said.
The pair first met in January 2016 when the ONE Bantamweight World Champion submitted him at the 4:04 mark of the opening round.
In November 2018, “The Silencer” edged Fernandes by split decision after an amazing five-round encounter.
The tables turned at ONE: A NEW ERA in March as Fernandes reclaimed his World Title by disqualification to Belingon.
“More than ever, I am familiar with Bibiano – his style, the way he moves,” the Kiangan native revealed.
“I already know what to expect and what I’ll do in our fourth match.”
With both athletes craving to settle the score, expect nothing but fireworks when they meet in the double-header event, which features four World Title bouts, three World Grand Prix Championship Finals, and several World Champion versus World Champion matches.
