SEPANG, 7 NOVEMBER 2016 – Kenny Lee of Kegani Racing will be spurred by his splendid performance at the previous Sepang 1000 Kilometre Endurance Race (S1K) in his bid to challenge for top honours in the Malaysia Championship Series (MCS), which enters Round 3 this weekend.

“The car is getting better and better. After winning the MCS endurance race in Round 2, the Suzuki Swift continued to perform splendidly to record a good performance at the S1K. We are really looking forward to keeping the momentum from the S1K to secure maximum points in Round 3,” shared Kenny.

With 38.5 points after three races including a one-hour endurance race in Round 2, Kenny currently sits second overall in the Malaysia Touring Car (MTC) class, trailing championship leader Mark Darwin of Sakura Tedco Racing by 9.5 points. Nick Mah is third with 31 points.

“Team Kegani Racing scored a sensational 1-2 finish in the Independent Cup at the S1K. It was truly a good performance from all of us and we will be entering the MCS race this weekend high in confidence,” said Kenny. He finished sixth overall to take second place in the Cup, partnering Neo Cheng Hien and newcomer Dr Farid Sani in a Suzuki Swift. The Independent Cup was topped by Kegani Racing’s awesome trio of Gerald Tan, Hong Tsui and Shawn Peh, who finished fifth overall in another Suzuki Swift.

Kenny, however, acknowledged that Mark and Sakura Tedco Racing would be in mean mood this weekend, as they would be determined to make up for their disappointment in the S1K. The Sakura Tedco Racing duo – Mark partnering Indonesian driver Fitra Eri, was regarded as hot favourites to win the 181-lap contest, but they were hampered by technical problems affecting their Proton Prevé.

“It will be an exciting battle this weekend, and we are ready for the contest,” said Kenny, adding that Round 3 will be more challenging that the previous round as it features two sprint races.

Commenting on the upcoming Round 3, Mark said that he had been eagerly awaiting the race, and that the wait between the round and the previous one was too long.

“I’m looking forward to Round 3 this weekend. It has been quite some time since the last round, and I’m excited to see how much more we can do with the car. This season is all about further developing the car, so we will be pushing it to the limit. The team has been working hard and has done a great job in the workshop, preparing the car day and night. We hope to get the best results this weekend,” said Mark, winner of the Touring Production class last season.
