Kuala Lumpur : Sunday, 4th October 2020 – The twenty four finalist of the Miss & Mrs Curvy International 2020 were officially revealed at the pageant’s sashing ceremony and press conference which was held at The Pearl Kuala Lumpur Hotel in Old Klang Road this morning. The well recognised plus size pageant sashing event saw a host of VVIPs, VIPs, celebrities and beauty queens, sponsors and partners, invited guests and members of the media attending the classy morning do.

Among the VVIPS attending the prestigious ceremony, included Dato’s Kalai Arasu of DK Brothers, Dato’ Lingamari of Gemilang Tanah, former Wanita MIC leader Dato’ Mohana Muniandy, national pageant director of Azhaghin & Azhagi 2020 Pramila Dewi, Mrs Malaysia World 2019/20 Priyasimmi, Timeless Kebaya Plus Size Ambassador Shida Abdullah, President & Founder of PJKKM Meenasri and established fashion designer Dato’ Ghani. Also gracing the event with their presence were Mrs Fitness Globe & Super Model Universe Malaysia pageant director Ammetta Malhotra, film producer MSK Selvamary, Miss Africa Malaysia pageant director Uche, Miss Southeast Asia Millenium Universe 2020 Suritha Ambal Sundram and Secretary General of Sahabat Malaysia Bhaski Solai.

Miss & Mrs Curvy Malaysia which was founded by Mr Muraalie Kannan of MK Asia Production Entertainment in 2018, was created as a unique and special cause platform to promote awareness and to empower women to overcome stereotypes and break barriers, The very first Miss & Mrs Curvy Malaysia only saw a handful of women participating, but the pageant series has grown rapidly to become one of the most progressive pageants for plus sized women over the years. The definition of beauty has continued to expand, making room for more women to be a given an opportunity to participate. “We are moving toward a culture of big-tent beauty, one in which everyone is welcome.” expressed Muraalie, Miss & Mrs Curvy International pageant director & MK Asia Production Entertainment’s CEO. “Everyone is beautiful. Everyone’s idealized version can be seen in the pages of magazines or on the runways of Malaysia but we are hoping to change all that by being more inclusive.” he added.

The 2020-21 edition of the pageant, now rebranded as Miss & Mrs Curvy International, saw no shortage of interest with 64 passionate, determined and talented participants aiming to be better versions of themselves by joining the competition this year. Auditions for the competition were held over a weekend in September at the Regal Park Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, right after the relaxation of the Movement Control Order. The finalists were selected by an esteemed panel of judges.

The event also saw Miss Curvy Malaysia 2019 Marissa Kee being appointed as Assistant Pagent Director for this year’s pageant by Muraalie Kannan. This was followed by the introduction and presentation of tokens of appreciation to official partners and also attending VVIPs.

The official judges were also revealed during the session along with key sponsors.

A new international pageant Miss & Mrs Hourglass International which is expected to take place next year was also announced during the event.

The grand finals of the Miss & Mrs Curvy International 2020-21 will take place on 9th January 2021.
