Kuala Lumpur, 3 November 2015 – Snuggling under white sheets on a Sunday afternoon is becoming more common, as more than 69% of Malaysians catch up on their sleep over the weekend. These findings are the latest from a sleep survey commissioned by Courts Malaysia in conjunction with the launch of its latest retail concept – “Customise Your Bed”, which allows customers to custom-build a bed from scratch according to their personal taste.
The survey was conducted by global research firm, 2CV, amongst 500 Malaysians from all walks of life to better understand sleeping habits and bedtime routines. Interestingly, over 80% of respondents are getting just enough sleep at 5-7 hours daily, but only one in three are satisfied with the quality of their slumber. The result is nearly two in three Malaysians spending more time on the weekends to catch-up on their much-needed rest. The survey also revealed that sleeping comfort, such as having an ideal room temperature or comfortable pillows improve the quality of sleep.

Findings from the Sleep Survey show that the quality of sleep can be impacted by a multitude of factors; one of which is stress. At least one in two Malaysians suffer from personal and work stress, which is why it is crucial that they take control of their sleep and come home to a bedroom that optimises their sleeping conditions for a well-rested night. Choosing the right bed, however, can be rather overwhelming, which is why “Customise Your Bed” allows customers to develop a sleeping solution that gives them all the comfort they need for a good night’s sleep, guided by trained staff, and at affordable prices.

“Customise Your Bed” enables customers to custom-make their bed in six easy steps. Guided by trained sales staff, shoppers will be able to mix and match their preferences, building their bed from scratch by choosing the type of spring, firmness and cover of their mattress, as well as the headboard and bed base. Test beds are also available for customers to try out the range of offerings and materials, from foam paddings to bamboo yarn, so that they can ensure that they are fully satisfied with the experience before their purchase.

Based on the survey, one in three Malaysians regularly change their beds every 2-5 years. We also discovered that 40% of Malaysians who do change their mattress at least once every five years are more likely to be satisfied with their sleep,” commented Mr. Luce.
