lo[Iskandar Puteri, April 8, 2016] The month of May would be the perfect time for adult fans to share their Star Wars™ love with their children, with a unique LEGO® twist! LEGO Star Wars™ Days is set to be bigger than ever this year – in fact, it will be the largest LEGO Star Wars™ event in the region thanks to a collaboration between The LEGO® Group and LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort with plenty of great family bonding activities over not just one day, but a whole month. This year will feature activities for everyone – from building iconic LEGO Star Wars™ spaceships like the Millennium Falcon to reminiscing about scenes from all six episodes of the franchise and The Clone Wars, in the fully air-conditioned LEGO Star Wars™ Miniland at LEGOLAND. To make it even more fun, children dressed up in a Star Wars™ outfit will get free entry.
IMG20160408102802What more could a fan want than to participate in building the biggest Millennium Falcon made from LEGO bricks? From 30 April to 2 May, LEGOLAND has the honour of playing host to Asia’s only Master Builder event with the world’s only father-son LEGO Master Builder team – Daniel Steininger and Christopher Steininger. They’ll be at LEGOLAND to build the iconic spaceship using more than 200,000 bricks to put together. Throughout the three day period, fans can get the chance to meet the most senior Master Builder in the world, and be part of building this amazing creation – the parent child duo will be stationed in the LEGOLAND Theme Park, welcoming guests to place a brick on the massive creation.

This all comes to a grand finish on 3 May when the last brick will be placed to complete the Millennium Falcon during a media session together with LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort’s guests-of-honour. Guests at LEGOLAND will also get to bring home a piece of the action by building their own mini limited edition Millennium Falcon as a take-home reminder of the day’s amazing Star Wars™ memories! The big spaceship will be on display at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort till end of May – but that’s not all, as there will also be two TIE Fighters being built on 7 – 8 May, which guest can also help to build.

IMG20160408104601Throughout the weekend of 7 – 8 May, LEGOLAND will have a flurry of activities to celebrate all things Star Wars™. Fans can witness a real-life Imperial March led by an army of Stormtroopers and Darth Vader alongside a variety of characters from the franchise, with more than 90 Star Wars™ costumers from the 501st Legion taking part.

Another way that fans can be a part of the LEGO Star Wars™ fever is through the “Build Your Own Dream LEGO Star Wars™ Starship” social media competition! From April 21 – May 8, parents will have a great opportunity to partner their child in the building of a LEGO Star Wars™ starship of their dreams. To enter, participants need to upload a photograph of their completed LEGO Star Wars™ starship on LEGOLAND Malaysia Resorts’ Facebook page with the hashtags “#MasterYourForce” and “#LEGOStarWarsDays”. After a week of judging by the LEGO Master Builders, ten winners will be picked and special prizes will be awarded on May 14.

For fans who love to create their own Star Wars™ scenes with LEGO, the My Own Creation (MOC) competition is something they would not want to miss. Over at LEGOLAND, they would able to view the final 99 models chosen from countries in the region including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan. This year, the competition has been segmented into three categories 7-15 years old, above 15 years old and finally the new category – parent and child. The winners of the respective categories will be awarded on May 8, with the winning MOCs on display in the Park till 31 May 2016.

lo2“Celebrating LEGO Star Wars™ Days with guests has always been a huge priority for us here at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort and this year we decided to go all out with The LEGO Group to bring many great activities for Star Wars ™ fans. It’s also our honour to host Daniel and Christopher here to build the largest LEGO Millennium Falcon, alongside two TIE Fighters and having our friends from the 501st Legion to participate in the Imperial March over the weekend”, shares Mark Germyn, General Manager of LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort.

“This is the grandest full-fledged partnership that The LEGO Group is doing with LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, and the synergy is absolutely wonderful – we know that Star Wars™ fans love the sets that we have, and this is a chance for parents to show their children what they’ve loved since they themselves were kids. The LEGO Star Wars™ Miniland is the perfect place for them to show exactly what LEGO Star Wars™ can be like in creating the world of the beloved franchise. We’re very excited and we can’t wait for everyone to experience all this!” said Dick Yoong, Country Manager, LEGO Malaysia.

Every weekend over the month of May, Park guests will be able to bring home a piece of the action with a mini LEGO Millennium Falcon. Families will also be able to participate in the LEGO Star Wars™ Activity Trail – a treasure-hunt, by participating in all LEGO Star Wars™ related activities in the park & be rewarded with a special gift.

DAN STEININGER
Starting with a background in art and sculpting, Dan only started learning and playing with LEGO®
when his son was about seven-years-old. That’s when the LEGO bug bit, and he left a lucrative sales
job to start work at a LEGO store.
Fast forward 20 years later, Dan is now the most senior Master Builder and only one of seven around
the world with The LEGO Group.
To date he has built some awesome Star Wars™ creations – a four-meter high Darth Vader, and a
two-metre Yoda, using more than 250,000 LEGO bricks. He’s also built the world’s largest LEGO
replica of the Millennium Falcon, with more than 200,000 bricks.

CHRIS STEININGER
Following in his father’s footsteps, Chris is one of seven Master Builders around the world with The
LEGO Group. In fact, Dan and Chris both make up the world’s only father-son Master Builder Team.
Currently, he’s been with the company for almost eight years full-time, with five and a half of those
as a Master Model Builder.
Together with his father, they’ve built the world’s largest LEGO replica of the Millennium Falcon, and
TIE Fighters, and also the world’s largest X-Wing which was unveiled in New York City.
