KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – October 20, 2016 – In partnership with Pusat Latihan Polis Kuala Lumpur (PULAPOL KL), Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd today launched the Samsung SMART Library at their premises. The Samsung SMART Library is a digital-publication reading zone initiative that is made available exclusively for members of the training centre.
The launch was officiated by YDH Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar, Inspector-General of Police, Malaysia, accompanied by YDH SAC Dato’ Zahari Mohd Yusoff, Commandant of PULAPOL KL, and YBhg. Dato’ Roh Jae Yeol, Director of Corporate Affairs, Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd.
The Government’s vision to transform Malaysia into an information-rich Knowledge Society that is ICT proficient by year 2020 is an ongoing plan as part of the country’s national agenda. With the launch of Samsung SMART Library in PULAPOL KL, more users and young police officers can now have access to plenty of digital reading resources to assist their mandatory trainings and a wide range of information that will help enrich their minds. This initiative is also in line with Samsung’s aim to spread positive change for everyone, helping them live a better life full of possibilities.
PULAPOL is the oldest police academy in Malaysia and operates under the government’s mandate to provide both academic and practical training to help prepare skilled future law enforcers. In helping them to achieve their mission, Samsung SMART Library offers new digital reading experience and customised digital content in PULAPOL KL’s environment to help facilitate continuous education relevant to their field. The SMART Library also promotes positive developments in the on-going education of the Police Force through knowledge and technology.
At the launch event, YDH Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar, Inspector-General of Police, Malaysia said, “The Royal Malaysia Police is proud to partner with Samsung for the launch of SMART Library for PULAPOL KL. Through the Samsung SMART Library, police officers can increase their awareness and knowledge in ICT, as well as foster positive reading habits through the availability of digital contents such as e-Books and other SMART Samsung devices to assist them in their studies. We thank Samsung Malaysia Electronics for their effort in helping the Royal Malaysia Police in preparing our future police officers to be highly knowledgeable and ICT savvy through the Samsung SMART Library initiative.’’
The PULAPOL KL Samsung SMART Library is the sixth of its kind in Malaysia and covers an area of 1,885 square feet, designed into three reading areas and a SMART Room for enhanced learning experience. Over 40 Samsung devices comprising tablets and SMART TVs are available for users in PULAPOL KL to assist their essential trainings. Samsung SMART Library users in PULAPOL KL will also have access to all e-Books available for loan from Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia (PNM) and varieties of e-Book titles comprising Malaysian and current law journals.

The Samsung SMART Library is part of the Samsung Global Corporate Citizenship initiative that employs Samsung technology and expertise for the betterment of local communities. The Samsung SMART Library represents the Company’s efforts in the area of Education, with the unveiling of the flagship SMART Library at the Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur in June 2014. To date, Samsung Malaysia Electronics has opened its SMART Library across Malaysia in Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Negeri Perlis, Maktab Polis Diraja Malaysia Kuala Lumpur, Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Terengganu and Samsung SMART Zone in Pagoh.
