(Kuala Lumpur, March 17) History’s 4 famous Yang family generals played by Ekin Cheng, Wu Chun, Vic Chou and Mainland China actor Yu Bo, will be in Malaysia on the 31th of March to promote the movie Saving General Yang.
Ekin Cheng playing the eldest Yang brother in the movie will lead in the promo tour and he will be joining the 3 others “generals” Wu Chun, Vic Chou and Yu Bo together with Director Ronny Yu and producer Raymond Wong in Kuala Lumpur on the 31st of March to promote the RMB170million epic blockbuster <<Saving General Yang>> that is packed with heroism and action.
The legend of <<Saving General Yang>> comes from the Northern Song Dynasty, and has been the subject of many television series or movie scripts each with their own focus on these heroic legends. This version of <<Saving General Yang>> assembles a cast of good looking actors. Ranging from Ekin Cheng as the eldest brother, Yu Bo as the 2nd brother, Vic Chou as 3rd brother, Raymond Lam as 5th brother and Wu Chun as 6th brother – all attractive looking actors in their own right. Even the actor playing Yang Linggong, Adam Cheng is called the “veteran hunk”, giving this film the moniker of “History’s Hottest Yang Generals”
This time, director Ronny Yu and all male star-studded casts, Ekin Cheng, Wu Chun, Vic Chou and Yu Bo will be present together with Director Ronny Yu, who brought us Jet Li’s movie <Fearless> with producer Raymond Wong, who brought us Donnie Yen’s Movies <Ip Man>, for a rare appearance in Malaysia. In addition to promoting the film, they will be at radio stations MYFM, MELODY FM for exclusive interviews, but most importantly, they will be attending the only public meet the fans session as well as the gala premiere of the movie.
Though Raymond Lam who was supposed to be part of the promotional entourage will have to take a hiatus due to drama filming obligations, but when these casts make their appearance in Malaysia, you can be sure to expect massive turn out of with support from the fans in full force. As for Yu Bo (who has previously appeared in <<Hotel Deluxe>>) he would be less familiar to the Malaysian fans, but you’ll be glad to know that he was previously a bodyguard for the former China Minister, and he’ll definitely be showing off his action moves in the movie.
When talking about the period action blockbuster <<Saving General Yang>>, having an attractive all-star cast is definitely a key selling point of the film. It’s interesting to note that though Raymond Lam and Wu Chun are both born in 1979, they both are playing younger brothers to the 1981 borne Vic Chou – truly an interesting casting decision based on the movie’s character.
Prior to this, Wu Chun has had experience shooting in period costume films <<14 Blades>>, but it is Vic Chou’s first ever period costume film. He even stated that his character’s costume resembles that of an elf from <<Lord of The Rings>>.
The plot for <<Saving General Yang>>is adapted from the traditional story of the <<Generals of Yang Family>> – a tragic story of a country trapped in war, and 7 brothers who set off to rescue their father. The producer spent 14 months just to get the actors together. Apart from the stellar casts, <<Saving General Yang>> also inspired by the film <<300>> which utilized a for minable behind-the-scenes team to generate the special effects, which resulted in the entire post-production taking over a year long special attention in the creation of a very realistic bloodied, brutal battlefield.
