Kuala Lumpur, 27 June: Goodday Milk, today continued to bring good days to the local community as part of its World Milk Day series of initiatives to spread the joy and goodness of milk. A total of 3,000 milk packs will be delivered to underprivileged children of three selected orphanages as consumers participated in the Goodday World Milk Day campaign charity drive conducted via 11street (www.11street.my), one of the largest e-commerce platforms in Malaysia.

Image 06Launched on World Milk Day, Goodday pledged to donate one milk pack for every pack purchased from 1 June 2016 to 5 June 2016 on 11street. The corporate social responsibility (CSR) movement saw consumers race to sweep up Goodday Milk packs in order to generously give back to society. As a result, Goodday Milk will present 3,000 Goodday Milk UHT 1L packs to three selected orphanages, namely Openhands Fellowship Bhd, Pertubuhan Kabajikan Astana and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim/Miskin Rukaiyah, which will receive gifts of wholesome dairy goodness.

“We are happy to be able to do our part by bringing good days to those who need it most. It is important that we make a difference as part of World Milk Day and not just advocate about the goodness of milk but to also share some of the joy and good days that come with it. We are also happy to receive such an overwhelming response from the consumers and would like to sincerely thank them for supporting this initiative. It is because of the consumers’ generosity that we are able to bring fun and laughter to the less fortunate children today,” said Etika Sdn Bhd Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Hemalatha Ragavan.

The presentation ceremony, which took place at Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim/Miskin Rukaiyah was enlivened by Dee Dee who entertained the children with a dance. The children were delighted to see the Goodday Milk mascot and burst into cheer during Dee Dee’s appearance. She also played a few trivia games with them while cheering them on in a series of fun activities. This made it a good day for the children under the care of Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim/Miskin Rukaiyah who also received their Goodday milk packs today.

Goodday team and Dee Dee also made deliveries to Openhands Fellowship Bhd who provides shelter, education and emotional support for underprivileged girls between the age of 7 to 20, and the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Astana home, which is dedicated to abandoned, abused children. The orphanages have a huge responsibility to ensure that the children get access to basic necessities and most importantly, the nutrition to grow. As such, milk becomes a crucial component to their diet as it helps to provide the basic protein and calcium that they need.

“Children are the future of our society and this is why we have focused our efforts to help them. We hope that by doing our part, these children will grow-up well and one day also have the means to give back too,” added Hemalatha.

While the initiative has ended, Goodday plans to do more in an effort to create more good days for consumers. To find out more about their future activities, please visit   www.facebook.com/gooddaymilkmalaysia
