The much-awaited KTM 890 SMT supermoto is now open for booking, and is being hailed as the perfect cross between an adventure bike and a streetfighter.
The 890 SMT is the new face of KTM’s SMT line, a Supermoto Tourer that offers the performance and handling of a supermoto with the comfort and convenience of a touring bike, making it an ideal choice for riders looking for a bike that delivers both style and performance, whether it is for urban rides to work or the weekend shredding of mountain passes. The new model is designed to provide riders with only the best in riding experience, with various built-in features to deliver top-notch handling.
The 890 SMT is inspired by the much-loved KTM 990 SMT from 2009 and is based on the KTM 890 Duke R, known for its impressive performance on the tarmac. The motorcycle is powered by a 2-cylinder, 4-stroke, DOHC parallel twin engine with a displacement of 899 cc. The engine delivers a detuned power delivery of 105 hp at 8,000 rpm and 100 Nm at 6,500 rpm, providing the power to navigate tight corners with ease.
The 890 SMT comes with three standard riding modes – Rain, Street, and Sport – along with an optional track mode that offers adjustable throttle modes and traction control. The Supermoto ABS is sure to excite fans of supermoto style handling, allowing riders to lock the rear tyres and slide into corners with ease.
With a seat height of 860 mm and a ground clearance of 227 mm, the 890 SMT is built to handle the toughest terrain, while providing the comfortable seating of a touring machine. Improved ergonomics allows the rider to adopt the supermoto riding posture, tucking in behind the aerodynamically-optimised wind deflector. This provides you better grasp at cornering and more confidence in your rides.
The front and rear suspension uses WP Apex, with the front 43 mm diameter forks providing 180 mm of travel, and the same from the rear monoshock, holding 17-inch wheels. The 890 SMT is built fully loaded and ready to race undulating mountain roads, with its light but sturdy construction that weighs only 194 kg.
The bike also comes equipped with a 5-inch TFT-LCD display that shows all the necessary information about the machine below you. The ultra-grippy tires from Michelin provide reduced unsprung mass and enhanced handling, making the 890 SMT the ultimate choice for riders looking for a bike that delivers both style and performance. Optional upgrades like the two-way Quickshifter+, Cruise Control and Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) will further elevate the seamless high speed riding experience.
