Sunway City, 21 May 2017 – More than 4000 participants from Penang, Ipoh, Johor, and Klang Valley joined Sunway Property’s Race for A Better Planet 2017 cycling events in May in response to the organisation’s call to promote green living in the city. The series of cycling events, which has just concluded the final leg in Sunway City, Klang Valley today, saw 1200 cyclists gathered at Sunway GEO Avenue for Power Ride and Fun Ride since 6am for a safety briefing and warm up session led by Grit Nation Subang. 50 marshals, 100 volunteers, 35 traffic police & security forces, paramedics and ambulance were also stationed at Sunway GEO Avenue as well as along the routes to direct traffic and provide on-road assistance. Prior to this, close to 3000 participants joined cycling in Sunway City Ipoh, Sunway Property @ Anson Penang, and Sunway Iskandar Johor, earlier this month. All the participants took home with them a Sunquick water bottle and a lunch box that are part of the goodies pack, as well as fond memories of cycling with close friends and family.

In addition to cycling, visitors also learnt recycling tips and useful eco-friendly knowledge via DIY workshops at the event. The organisation also donated RM50,000 to Malaysian Environmental NGOs (MENGO), to fund various environmental initiatives under its current programme. Together with its sponsors, Sunway Property gave away around RM 30,000 worth of prizes throughout the campaign, and will be announced RM 12,000 Grab promo code winners via its Facebook page soon. The community campaign, which is in its fourth edition, is being held annually in support of World Environment Day, a global initiative under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
