Ronald McDonald, who represents the magic and happiness of the McDonald’s brand, is setting out on a global mission to rally people through inspiring events. Coming off the heels of the successful Ronald McDonald global relaunch in April, Malaysia is Ronald’s first stop in his journey of bringing smiles and happiness to the world in fun and unexpected ways.

For the first time, Ronald McDonald will take an active role on McDonald’s social media channels around the world and engage consumers using the #RonaldMcDonald hashtag. As Ronald begins his journey, he seeks to deliver on the mission: “Fun makes great things happen” – the idea that moments of fun and enjoyment bring out the simple pleasures in life and can lead to acts of goodness.

“Ronald brings to life the fun of our brand by connecting with customers around the world, whether he’s promoting literacy or spreading cheer at a Ronald McDonald House,” said Dean Barrett, Senior Vice President, Global Relationship Officer. “Customers today want to engage with brands in different ways and Ronald will continue to evolve to be modern and relevant.”

The first leg of Ronald McDonald’s global journey was at the popular 1 Utama Shopping Center where thousands of families and children were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime snowy weekend when Ronald ‘brought in snow’ to cool down the scorching heat through a specially-designed winter wonderland. The two-day event on June 14 and 15 featured a spectacular custom-made snow hill that allowed adults and children alike to revel in the joys of snow sledding. Ronald McDonald was in his element as he warmly interacted, joked and posed for pictures with the excited crowd.

“Ronald continues to bring happiness and smiles to families around the world. In his role, he shares the good news that simple moments of fun can make great things happen. Here in Malaysia, Ronald will continue to play an active role in fostering children’s well-being, promoting balanced active lifestyles and lending a helping hand to the local communities – all done with a dose of fun,” said Stephen Chew, Managing Director, McDonald’s Malaysia.

In conjunction with Ronald’s global mission, he will also be sporting a new wardrobe. Ronald will be swapping his yellow one-piece jumpsuit for yellow cargo pants and a vest, accompanied by a red-and-white striped rugby shirt. His iconic big red shoes will remain the same. Reserved for special occasions, Ronald has a whimsical new red blazer with the Golden Arches on the front pocket and his well-recognized signature on the back, and a special bowtie to complete the look.

Ronald McDonald can’t wait to connect with people through social media. “Selfies …here I come! It’s a big world and now, wherever I go and whatever I do…I’m ready to show how fun can make great things happen,” said Ronald McDonald.
