When growing up, have you ever wanted your very own Doraemon to be friends with? (We still do, actually.) That’s why, for the Johor Bahru stop of the 100 Doraemon Secret Gadgets Expo, we’ll be introducing the Expo’s exciting theme: “Everyone wants a Doraemon!” – Where visitors will get to experience befriending their favourite blue robot cat from the future!
From 30th August – 4th Jan 2015, Johor Bahru City Square will serve as the new home to the 100 Doraemon Secret Gadgets Expo for all you Malaysian and Singaporean fans to relive your wonderful childhood memories with Doraemon.
The launch of the expo on the 3rd September 2014 will be a symbolic one, as it is the date where everyone’s favourite robot cat from the future, Doraemon, will be born in 2112. Promising to bring even more excitement to the Johor fans, the Expo will showcase plenty of Doraemon gadgets, scenes and also serve as the launch of a momentous worldwide event.
We’re not only bringing back the original 100 life-sized Doraemon figurines, 100 iconic gadgets and well-known scenes in Doraemon stories, and plenty of brand new experiences – the world’s first ever English edition of the iconic Doraemon manga will be launched at the Expo!
World’s First-Ever Published Hardcopy English Doraemon Manga
September marks the 44th anniversary of Doraemon and in commemoration of this occasion, Shogakukan Asia will at the Expo officially launch the long-anticipated world’s first-ever Englishhardcover edition of the beloved Doraemon manga. Both Volumes 1 & 2 are expected to be a hit with long-time fans and excited new readers alike, and will be launched exclusively at Johor Bahru’s 100 Doraemon Secret Gadgets Expo!
Ever since the first Doraemon manga was published in Japan back in 1970, Doraemon has captured the attention and hearts of children and adults everywhere. Over the years, both the Doraemon animation and manga have been translated into various languages, making his adventures and values to be an integral part of many of our growing up years.
New Gadgets, New Scenes, New Treats
Fans can expect a new Doraemon experience when they check out the Expo in Johor Bahru. There will be a refreshing change of scene and feel for the 100 Doraemon, where we will be introducing more new gadgets such as the Pre-Mailer, Cubic Arrow and Pass Loop. Fan favourites such as the “Dokodemo Door” that allows to travel anywhere by simply going through the door, the “Hopter” which is a bamboo propeller which can airlift you to safety, and the “Time Machine” which enables one travel through time and space will also make an appearance at the Expo.
Not only that, fans will be greeted with brand new iconic scenery for plenty of photo-taking opportunities. Hint: the new scenery is where Nobita attends his classes!
Do remember to also drop by the special Doraemon Café located at Level 1 (Atrium) and Level 5 to personally try out Doraemon’s favourite snacks – Dorayaki (red bean pancake), memory bread and other Doraemon themed food and drinks.
Exciting activities with Ambassadors: Jack Lim and FS (Fuying& Sam)
The talented Jack Lim and FS (Fuying & Sam) will make special appearances at the expo as 100 Doraemon Gadget Expo’s ambassadors. In line with the theme “Everyone wants a Doraemon”, Jack Lim was selected to the expo’s ambassador as he is a family man, who is a good father and a good husband. FS (Fuying & Sam), on the other hand, are ideal role models for teens and the youth.
Watch out for special video clips of FS (Fuying & Sam) special introduction of Doraemon gadgets that will be featured during the EXPO. Fans can look forward tovarious upcoming contests that will allow fans to win a special trip to visit the EXPO together with Jack Lim and FS (Fuying & Sam).
Visit Doraemon Before He Says ‘Goodbye!’
This will be the LAST Malaysian stop for the 100 Doraemon Gadgets Expo before Doraemon heads off to Singapore for the next exciting Doraemon celebration.

Tickets for the expo is RM 25 for adults (13 years & above) and RM 15 for children (aged 4 – 12). Children below 90cm, senior citizens above age 60 and OKU will enjoy free entrance to the Expo. Tickets will be available at:
