Heidilee, 33, clocked 1 hour 23 minutes in the 30+ obstacles under scorching heat with temperatures rising up to 35 degree celsius with occasional strong winds at the KSL Holdings Berhad venue.

At the same time, Nuril Amir, 36, from Puchong came in second after clocking 1 hour 24 minutes while Tan Cheang Cheng, 32, from Georgetown, Penang finished third in a time of 1 hour 27 minutes.

“The Spartan Super is a fast race and the obstacles were tough. It challenges your mental and physical strength and your endurance level. It was not easy but I kept my cool when facing these obstacles.

“I’m looking forward to the Spartan Beast as I heard that it will be tougher,” said the former Royal Malaysian Navy serviceman who competed in the 2005 and 2006 SEA Games.

Lindsay, 26, who hails from the city of Manchester, clocked 1 hour 42 minutes in the elite women’s category while Tess Russo (1 hour 45 minutes) and Natalie Dau (1 Hour 46 minutes) came in second and third respectively.

“It was a magnificent race and I enjoyed it very much. You need to be super fit to battle the obstacles and the heat. I kept my mind into the race and at no time did I ever think of giving up,” said Lindsay, a teacher at an International school in Kuala Lumpur.

The Spartan Super Race attracted around 10,000 participants who now look towards the tougher and far more challenging Reebok Spartan Beast Race on October 9 in conjunction with National Sports Day.

The Reebok Spartan Super Race was loaded with 30+ obstacles over a 13+km distance and open to participants aged 14 and above. Among the obstacles were the Rope Climb, A Frame – (to climb using a rope and descending using a ladder), Hercules Hoist (rope is attached to weights), Multirig (complicated monkey bar) and Atlast Carry (carrying a big weight ball).

It was the next step up for Spartan Sprint Finishers on their way to the coveted Spartan Trifecta (if you finished last year’s Spartan Sprint in Oct, it will count for this year’s Trifecta).
