“Although this year’s RHW is aimed at those who are in their twenties, there was still massive response from the public who are not within the targeted age range as well. This has further proven that health is really something that everyone treasures regardless of age. Nonetheless, in accordance to the theme “Healthy Twenties”, the chosen participants are all in their twenties,” said Christina Thong, Marketing Manager of Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd.
Kenny Rogers ROASTERS (KRR) will be providing participants with meals up to 3 times a week. To ensure participants enjoy the fullest benefits from the diet programme, they will be equipped with a diet plan carefully designed by a consultant dietician that consists of practical food intake recommendations for an average Malaysian by incorporating KRR meals in the plan.
On the other hand, the workout routines will be personalized by Sports Toto Fitness Centre where participants will be required to attend a customized personal training programme at least once a week and a minimum of two group exercise classes every week according to their own schedule at the fitness centre.
“I’m really excited to be leading my team in achieving their fitness goals and I’m sure they will all do great with all the guidance and motivation that they will receive from both KRR and Sports Toto Fitness Centre,” said Fiqrie, Malaysian radio personality.
Local singer and artist, Ke Qing, also commented that, “I believe that my team has a fair chance in winning the challenge, but most importantly, I have faith that they will be able to achieve their desired goals through this year’s RHW!”
Both of the teams were also given their very first challenge where they were required to perform the Russian Twist, which is used to work the abdomen muscles by performing a twisting motion on the abdomen while they remained in a “sit-up” position with their feet kept slightly above the ground. Teams were also required to monitor their opponents as they perform the most numbers of twists within two minutes. Team Cuerpo, which has won the preliminary round were given an additional 10 points as a head start of the challenge!
Participants will be monitored very closely throughout the challenge as their success will be judged according to their Body Mass Index (BMI), Body Fat Percentage and Waist-to-Hip ratio in comparison to their numbers at the beginning of the programme. Additionally, they will also be monitored on their attendance and discipline through the period of the challenge.
Any contestants who are caught cheating in their diet or training programmes will “Head for the Roast” – participants to be involved in additional exercises aside from their existing individual exercise programme. In addition, their performance will be also assessed in a mini-fitness challenge during the finals which will take place on 27 November 2014.
