Kuala Lumpur, 1 April 2015 – Ricoh (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. recently donated 625 Ricoh laser printers to government organisations along the 2014-2015 East Coast flood-hit areas in the states of Kelantan and Pahang.

The initiative is part of the leader in office and business solutions’ mission to restore the development of various flood-hit states, effectively spurring recovery for daily operations of affected state government organisations.

Over 30 different organisations situated in the states of Kelantan and Pahang received the printer donation, including local libraries, educational and religious institutions, as well as state government bodies.

Among the recipients of Ricoh Malaysia’s flood donation initiative were The Kelantan State Forestry Department, Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM), Technical Matriculation College of Pahang, Kuala Krai District Council, and the Kuantan Municipal Council.

The East Coast floods struck a chord for Terengganu native and Managing Director of Ricoh (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., Mr. Peter Wee, as his hometown was among the flood-hit areas.

“It was devastating to see how in one sweep, thousands of lives and dreams came to a jolting halt as they were washed away before their eyes. In our capacity as a total office and business solutions provider, doing nothing was not an option. We saw the need to step in and help restore what was lost, by providing a fresh start to offices, schools, etc. with our printers,” said Mr. Wee.

“At Ricoh, we hold on dearly to our founding principles – ‘The Spirit of Three Loves’, established by Kiyoshi Ichimura: ‘Love your neighbour, love your country, love your work’. It is our mission to care for and give back to the community when in need. For us, implementing this ideation meant ensuring that we were able to, in our capacity, enhance and equip affected businesses and organisations with the power to regain their efficiency,” added Mr. Wee.

Described to be the worst in decades, the recent floods in the north-eastern states of the Malaysian Peninsula displaced more than 200,000 people and seized the lives of 21, with the heart of the storm making its deadliest strike across Kelantan.

In line with its Imagine. Change. brand tagline, Ricoh Malaysia consistently strives to evolve, inspire, and drive change for a better future.
